How to share a Rubik's Cube solve
Cubeathon guide · Reviewed October 2026
A Cubeathon share is one public link to one result: a single, a PB, an average or a milestone. You can send the link, post an image of the result card, or show a QR code for another phone to scan. Whoever opens it sees the result and, for a single, can solve the very same scramble.
This guide covers what you can share, what the other person sees, and how to take a link down again. To race someone on a scramble, see the same-scramble challenge guide.
What you can share
| Result | Where to find Share | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| A single solve | From the solve's details: tap a solve in the timer's Solves list, then Share. | The scramble travels with it, so others can solve the same one. |
| Your personal best | From the solve's details (it's marked “Your session PB”) or the Compete page. | Carries the scramble too. |
| Best Ao5 and best Ao12 | Compete page, under “Share your records”. | Shows the times that made up the average. |
| An Ao5 round's scrambles | Compete page: “Ao5 scrambles”. | Lets others solve the same five scrambles. |
| Awards and milestones | Your profile's trophy wall and milestones, or the celebration after you earn one. | For example a first sub-20, or finishing the beginner course. |
What can't be shared
- Imported or typed-in times. Only solves recorded on Cubeathon's own timer can be shared.
- A solve that hasn't synced yet. A share is built from your saved solves, so a solve still waiting to upload says so; it can be shared once it has synced.
- Notes and sessions. The public copy contains the result only, never your notes or session names.
Share a result, step by step
- Sign in. Sharing needs a free account, because a shared result carries your Cuber ID. Your solves keep saving on your device either way; only what you choose to share becomes public.
- Find the result: tap a solve in the timer's Solves list, or open the Compete page for your PB and best averages.
- Press Share. The share sheet opens with a link to your result's public page.
- Pick how to send it (below). Pressing Share again on the same result gives you the same link, not a new one.
Link, image or QR code
Every option carries the same public page, so it doesn't matter which one the other person receives.
- Share — your phone's own share menu (WhatsApp, Messages and so on), where the browser supports it.
- Save image — the result card as a picture, in Square (feeds) or Story (9:16) format. The card shows the result, your name and the cubeathon.com address.
- Copy link — paste it anywhere. Chat apps and social sites show the result card as the link preview.
- QR — let someone next to you scan it, for example at a club meet.
What the other person sees
The link opens a page with your name, what happened (for example “set a new personal best”) and the result in large type. For an average it also lists the solves, with the best and worst in brackets. No account is needed to view it.
Under the result there is one clear next step:
- Solve this scramble on a shared single or PB: the timer opens with your exact scramble on the right puzzle.
- Solve these 5 scrambles on a shared Ao5 round: the timer serves the five scrambles in order.
- Try the timer on averages and milestones, which have no single scramble.
The page says plainly that it's a self-timed practice result: Cubeathon records what happens in the app, it doesn't verify physical solves, and it isn't an official competition result. Share pages are not listed in search engines; they're for the people you send them to.
Add your video or post
Filmed the solve? In the share sheet, paste a public link to your video or post on YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook. You'll see the cleaned-up link before saving; you can replace or remove it later. One link per share.
Visitors see a button to open it on that site. A YouTube video can play right on the page, but only after the visitor clicks it. The link is shown as-is: Cubeathon doesn't claim it proves the solve.
How sharing works
- It's read from your recorded solves. When you press Share, Cubeathon reads the result from your saved solve history; nothing on the page is typed in by hand.
- It's a frozen copy. The page shows the result as it was when you shared it. Fixing a penalty or deleting the solve afterwards doesn't change it — to change what's public, take the link down.
- It shows only that result. Your other solves, notes and sessions stay private. Your public profile is a separate setting and can stay off.
Take a link down
Open Settings and find Shared links. Every link you've made is listed; press Revokeon one and its page and image stop working straight away. Links you haven't revoked keep working even if your public profile is private.
