How to track your cube solves and sessions
Cubeathon guide · Reviewed October 2026
Every solve you time on Cubeathon is saved with its time, penalty, scramble and date. Sessions let you group those solves, so your speed practice, slow solves and experiments each have their own averages.
This guide covers sessions, fixing a solve, training modes and goals, all from the timer's drawer.
How sessions work
- Each puzzle has its own sessions, starting with one called Main. Switching puzzle switches to that puzzle's sessions.
- PBs and averages are worked out per session, so a session of one-handed or slow solves won't drag down your main average.
- The current puzzle and session are shown above the timer; tap the session name to switch or manage sessions.
Good reasons for a new session
- A different kind of practice: slow solves, one-handed, a new method.
- A new cube, to compare it fairly with the old one.
- A block of time, such as a month, to compare later.
Create, rename and delete sessions
Open the drawer on the timer and go to the Session tab. Pick a session to switch to it, or use New session, Rename and Delete.
Deleting a session deletes its solves on this device too, after a confirmation, and can't be undone. The Main session can't be deleted. Make a backup first if you might want those solves again.
Fix penalties and add notes
Forgot to mark a +2? Tap a solve in the drawer's Solves tab to open its details:
- Toggle +2 or DNF; tap again to remove it. Averages update straight away.
- Write a note, such as “lockup on the last pair” or “new cube”. Notes stay private, even when you share the solve.
- See the scramble the solve used, or delete the solve.

Times from elsewhere
The drawer's Data tab has Add a time for a solve timed on another device, and you can import a csTimer history. These are kept in your history with an Importedtag, but they don't set PBs or averages: those count only solves Cubeathon's timer recorded.
Training modes and goals
The Session tab also lets you say what a session is for:
- Normal — timed solves, as always.
- Slow solve — deliberate solving, slow enough that you never pause. Timing is unchanged; the label keeps you honest.
- Inspection training — turns WCA inspection on, so every solve starts with 15 seconds of planning.
- Algorithm drill — for timing full solves while you learn new cases, with links to the drills.
You can also set an optional session goal: a target average, a number of solves, or both. A progress line shows how close you are. The training mode and goal are saved on this device.
After each solve
Under the result, Solve analysisshows the time, the difference from your PB, the solve's position in the session and the previous solve. The drawer's Stats tab charts the whole session; see how to read your statistics.
Keep your history safe
Solves are saved in your browser as you go. A free account syncs them to your other devices, and an export file gives you a copy you control. Both are covered in backing up your solves.
